While sleeping in one morning this weekend, and before my husband brought me coffee in bed (pretty perfect already), I had a realization:
I am happy.
For most of my life I have had a severe case of the "I'll-be-happy-whens." When I graduate. When I meet my soul-mate. When we buy a house. When I get that next job. When we have children. When said children are out of diapers. When we get a new home that has more than one bathroom. When the children can cook their own dang chicken nuggets.
I have stopped doing that!
For now, anyway. Today, I love my life the way it IS. I am happy.

This was so sweet! Sometimes those perfect moments come at the most perfect times. My perfect moment of the day: hanging out with my in-laws after we had them over for dinner. They're moving this week and it makes me realize just how perfect we had it with them nearby.

I think that's the best feeling - realizing that you're happy.

This may be my favorite perfect moment ever. I also struggle with the "I'll be happy when's".

my perfect moment involved spending the weekend with baby J's birth parents, and falling asleep gazing into my beautiful daughter's precious face.

It's a wonderful moment when you realize you are happy ... and of course you'll have unhappy moments following this. But you have stopped putting off happiness and embraced it.

That, Lori, is the most perfect moment EVER.
Hmmm..makes me think of all the "I'll be happy whens" that have been rolling through my head...when I get another degree and can make more money...when we build our "for good" house...when I get my smurfy blue walls painted...when we stop being sick every 3 weeks.
Time to stop the thought train.
