We spent a Thanksgiving week-let (5 days) in Breckenridge, CO, in a lovely mountain home that sleeps all 14 of my family members.
My parents, both my sisters, all our husbands and our children hiked, cooked and ate the roast beast, skied (well, not me), held singalongs, and chatted over this:
Completing a puzzle has become a tradition for such get-togethers. Doing so keeps us up waaaaay past a decent bedtime, and gets us up to see some beautiful sunrises.Moments at the puzzle table are perfect. (Except for when either Sheri or Tami hide that last. puzzle. piece. You know you do.)

Impressive! We always used to do puzzles when visiting my grandparents in Florida...what a nice reminder!

Sounds like a fun weekend. I love doing puzzles although since I have cats (who also like to steal puzzle pieces) I have found a computer puzzle game to play.

We love doing puzzles too, especially at Christmastime. Sadly, haven't done one in a few years. Time to resurrect the tradition, methinks...

The snap of a piece going in correctly is so deeply satisfying. And I love the ghostly vision of a half completed puzzle - if you glance at it you can't quite tell if the image is arriving or disappearing.

I love Breckenridge! I haven't been up there for a long time, but I love it there! Looks like ya'll had fun!
That's a great puzzle! The Hubs and I adore puzzles and family game night. His family are all over those sorts of things too. Unfortunately, they live on the other side of the Atlantic and my family look at you as though you've suddenly grown an extra head if you suggest anything like a family game or puzzle.

What a wonderful tradition! When I was a kid my stepmom enjoyed putting together puzzles, but she never had the patience to let the kids join in (I would sit and hold a puzzle piece forever, COMPLETELY unable to figure out where it went). Now I think it might be a fun activity to as a family (when Oscar is MUCH older, of course).
There was a movie where a family was putting together a puzzle and the father would pick up a pair of scissors and cut the piece fit. It was hilarious, but I can't remember the name of it.
I like how you went away to a cabin for TG. Eliminates hostess stress.

I'm sorry, I couldn't read the rest of your post after the word "Breckenridge."
My Dad used to take my brother and I there every year. We would eat Doritos for lunch (that's what happens when mom stays home!) and ski like crazy. It was awesome.

We do puzzles at the family beach house every summer--I always swear I wont do another--I get frustrated easily :)

Dang - that sounds like the perfect Thanksgiving to me! Miss being up in the mountains around the holidays. Spent this year in Kentucky. Not as exciting as it sounds and definitely not as wonderful as being up above 9000ft. So, I am completely jealous - but that's okay, I don't begrudge you a perfect moment in the very least. :0)

I wish I had the patience for puzzles!
When we ski, my favorite part of the whole trip is spending nights in the cabin playing board games. Even more than the skiing itself.
